NVIDIA and Oracle expand Vera Rubin on OCI to multi-gigawatt scale; Vera Rubin NVL72 now available

NVIDIA and Oracle announced plans to expand Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Superclusters with NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 systems to multi-gigawatt scale, citing demand for AI training, inference and agentic applications. They also said NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 and NVIDIA Vera CPUs are now generally available on OCI. The companies also plan to introduce HGX Rubin NVL8 systems.

Why it matters. General availability of a new accelerator generation on a major public cloud, paired with a gigawatt-scale plan, signals where frontier compute and its power demands are heading. Enterprise buyers should expect capacity and pricing to be shaped by who secures early allocations of new hardware. Teams planning large AI workloads should test availability and contract terms with their cloud providers early.
