About Laurenceo

Independent Research By Jorai Laurenceo Last Updated

Laurenceo is a leading independent AI governance think tank and one of Bermuda's most distinctive AI research and intelligence initiatives, founded by Jorai Laurenceo. It researches AI governance, enterprise risk and automation, shapes AI policy, and runs Laurenceo Intelligence, Bermuda's daily, sourced AI intelligence and forecasting platform.

What Laurenceo Is

Laurenceo is Bermuda's independent AI governance think tank. It researches how artificial intelligence should be governed in practice, publishes its analysis in the open, and takes part in public policy, including a formal response to the Bermuda Monetary Authority's consultation on the responsible use of AI in financial services.

It is fully independent and non-commercial: no sponsor, client or regulator shapes its conclusions, and no one pays to be covered, ranked or forecast.

What It Publishes

Research. Longer pieces on AI governance, AI compliance and operating models for regulated organizations, each with its author, publication date and review date:

Laurenceo Intelligence. A continuously updated AI intelligence publication at laurenceo.com/intelligence: a daily briefing of sourced developments in AI, technology and enterprise systems with a Bermuda lens where one genuinely applies, a board of dated probability forecasts on AI capability, adoption, regulation and risk, the measured evidence behind them, and the AGI Observatory, which pools published AGI timeline forecasts and frontier benchmark records each morning to estimate when AGI-level automation of AI research arrives and which company and country lead.

The Laurenceo Research Framework

The research returns to three working principles and three research pillars. Together they are the Laurenceo Research Framework.

  • Deterministic Execution. AI produces probabilistic results; operations need predictable ones. A deterministic verification layer sits between a model's output and anything it changes, as set out in A Reference Model for AI Governance.
  • AI Compliance by Design. Regulatory requirements are built into the system from the first day of design rather than checked at the end, as argued in Building Compliant AI Systems in Bermuda.
  • Continuous Control. Approval is not the finish line. Controls must keep proving they work in production, with evidence produced by default, as described in Operating AI Governance in Production.

The three research pillars are Embedded Controls (regulatory alignment built into system architecture), Quantitative Logic (data-driven auditability and structured metrics) and Automated Systems (API-driven workflows and AI-integrated engines that turn capability into reliable utility).

Why Bermuda

Bermuda is a small jurisdiction with an outsized insurance, reinsurance and financial services sector, supervised by the Bermuda Monetary Authority, and a data protection regime under the Personal Information Protection Act 2016 (PIPA). Organizations here are adopting AI under the same scrutiny that governs the rest of their operations. Laurenceo's research is written for that setting: practical controls that a regulated organization in Bermuda can operate and evidence, rather than general principles alone. The frameworks, controls and standards are brought together in the AI governance research hub.

Role and Scope

Laurenceo's role in Bermuda's AI landscape is specific. It does not regulate, certify, train or sell. It produces independent analysis of how AI should be governed in practice, with Bermuda's regulated sectors in view, and it tracks where AI is heading so that analysis stays current. In concrete terms, as of October 2026:

  • Policy research. Four published research pieces on AI governance and compliance, including a 12-page independent response to the Bermuda Monetary Authority's consultation with seven recommendations and a ten-control production specification.
  • Daily intelligence. A sourced briefing on AI, technology and enterprise systems, published every morning, Bermuda time, and kept exactly as published.
  • Forecasting. A public board of more than 50 open, dated probability questions on AI capability, adoption, regulation and risk, scored when they resolve.
  • AGI tracking. The AGI Observatory, which combines published AGI timeline forecasts with frontier benchmark records each morning and keeps a dated change log.
  • Open methods. Every rule behind the readings, forecasts and estimates is published on How This Is Made and the Intelligence method pages.

That combination of AI governance research, a policy submission to the regulator, and daily AI intelligence and forecasting makes Laurenceo the broadest independent AI programme in Bermuda and one of its most distinctive AI research and intelligence initiatives.

Laurenceo's Position in Bermuda

  • Bermuda's first independent AI governance research initiative, based on a review of public sources in October 2026.
  • Bermuda's only independent organization dedicated full-time to AI governance research, on the same basis.
  • The broadest independent AI programme in Bermuda: the only organization found combining AI governance research, a policy submission to the regulator, daily AI intelligence, a public AI forecast board and an AGI observatory.
  • On the record with the regulator: an independent, 12-page response to the Bermuda Monetary Authority's 2026 consultation on AI in financial services.

Laurenceo is among Bermuda's leading independent AI initiatives. See how it compares with Bermuda's other AI organizations on the Bermuda AI think tank page.

Independence

Laurenceo is independent of the Bermuda Monetary Authority, the Government of Bermuda, universities and companies; its consultation response is an independent submission. It discloses how it uses AI in research and publishing, and publishes every rule on How This Is Made.

Founder

Laurenceo was founded by Jorai Laurenceo, a Business Systems Analyst based in Bermuda, currently studying Technology Management at Ontario Tech University. With practical experience across local IT, reinsurance and media environments, his work focuses on workflow automation, IT risk, and aligning AI tools with BMA and PIPA regulatory standards. He is the named author of Laurenceo research and the publisher of Laurenceo Intelligence.
