Bermuda ReWiRe delegates told AI is turning cyber attacks into physical and supply-chain crises
Merging cyber, data centre and AI liability expertise points to a market treating these exposures as one correlated risk, which will shape how capacity is allocated and priced for technology-linked lines. Reinsurers, brokers and corporate buyers of cyber cover should expect closer scrutiny of aggregation and physical-consequence scenarios. The annuity disintermediation warning is a separate balance-sheet issue that life reinsurers should stress-test against rate moves.
What Happened
Reinsurance executives at the ReWiRe conference at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club discussed how AI is supercharging cyber hacks into catastrophic physical and supply-chain crises, and were told AI agents are collapsing technology implementation timelines from years to months. Gallagher Re's Lara Mowery said the firm combined its cyber team with data centre and AI liability teams into a digital risk team. Delegates also heard that rising interest rates risk triggering disintermediation in the $300 billion annuity market, which is principally reinsured into Bermuda.
