Heritage Since 1970 Last Updated

Laurenceo was founded in 2026. The family behind it has served Bermuda for more than half a century, in finance, medicine, law, government, education, architecture and the arts. That record is the foundation Laurenceo is built on.

In Short

  • Since 1970 the Laurenceo family has helped build Bermudian institutions, starting with the Sickle Cell Foundation of Bermuda.
  • Its members have worked across finance, public health, the law, local government, higher education, architecture, music and technology.
  • Laurenceo carries that breadth into its work: tracking how AI reaches every one of those sectors, and publishing what it finds in the open.

Building Institutions, 1970

In 1970, Dr. Donaldo Sigismundo Laurenceo and Ivena Laurenceo co-founded the Sickle Cell Foundation of Bermuda, giving families living with the disease an organisation of their own on the island. Their work with the Foundation was publicly recognised in 2015, more than four decades after it began.

It set the pattern the family has followed since: see a problem early, build something that lasts, and do it in service of the community.

Finance and Public Life

Dr. Donaldo Sigismundo Laurenceo read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford and earned a PhD in Finance at Columbia University. Alongside his professional career he served on the Hamilton Parish Council and as a member of the Gideons, bringing the same discipline to local government and faith-based service that he brought to finance.

Health and Education

Ivena Laurenceo built a career in nursing and public health. From 1990 to 1993 she worked on the Bermuda Government's health-promotion programme. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland and went on to lecture at Bermuda College for two decades, training the next generation of Bermudian professionals.

Law

Donaldo Laurenceo was called to the Bermuda Bar in 1997 and built a career in corporate law, part of the legal profession that underpins Bermuda's place in international business.

Architecture and the Arts

Novia Laurenceo works in architecture, shaping the built environment. Katherine Laurenceo studied Music Education at Howard University.

The Next Generation

Jorai Laurenceo is the Founder and Executive Director of Laurenceo. His experience includes Rize, BBC, Aeolus and BTA. He studies Technology Management at Ontario Tech University, where he has held executive roles with TMSA and NETSOC, including Deputy Executive (Finance). His full record is on his résumé.

Donaldo Laurenceo is Laurenceo's Business Intelligence Associate. He holds the Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze and Silver Awards, has experience at KPMG and reached Grade 8 in piano. More on both is on the About page.

A Multidisciplinary Legacy

Few families have worked across so many of the systems a country runs on: finance, public health, the courts, local government, higher education, the built environment and now technology. The Laurenceo family has, across generations.

That is why Laurenceo does not treat AI as a technology story. It is a finance story, a health story, a legal story, a government story and an education story at once, and Laurenceo tracks it across all of them, every day, in Laurenceo Intelligence, in its research and in its policy work.

It is also why Laurenceo works in public. The family has always served in the open, on councils, in classrooms, in clinics and before the courts. Laurenceo does the same: it publishes its briefings, forecasts and research for anyone to read, and explains them in short videos on YouTube, LinkedIn and its other channels, so the evidence reaches the people it affects.
