Does Bermuda have an AI law?
No. Bermuda has no standalone AI law or AI Act. AI is governed through existing law, chiefly PIPA for personal data, and through sector rules such as the Bermuda Monetary Authority's proposed AI Guidance Note. Full guide: Bermuda AI Regulation and Law.
Who regulates AI in Bermuda?
No single regulator. The BMA covers regulated financial services, the Privacy Commissioner covers personal data under PIPA, and the Government's AI Policy covers public-sector use.
What is the BMA's AI Guidance Note?
A proposed guidance note, published for consultation on 14 August 2026, explaining how existing obligations apply when BMA-regulated firms use AI. It has eight principles and five outcomes and creates no new licence. Full guide: The BMA's AI Guidance Note, Explained.
Does PIPA apply to AI?
Yes. Any AI system that uses personal information is covered by the Personal Information Protection Act 2016, fully in force since 1 January 2025. Full guide: PIPA and AI.
Does the EU AI Act apply to Bermuda companies?
Not as Bermuda law, but Bermuda companies whose AI systems or outputs reach the EU market can fall within its scope.
Are there AI rules for Bermuda's courts?

Does the Bermuda Government use AI?
Yes. It has an AI Policy requiring human review of AI decisions that affect people, and in May 2026 announced a partnership with NEAR AI to deploy secure AI in public services. Full guide: How the Government of Bermuda Uses AI.
Is Bermuda planning AI legislation?
The Premier has said the Government intends to explore legal clarity for AI agents in financial services. No bill has been published.
