Maximum-severity Siemens SIMATIC IoT2050 flaw (CVE-2026-58115) under active exploitation

Cybersecurity Laurenceo Intelligence Siemens · Global

Exploitation of a flaw with a vendor fix available since August shows that patch latency on industrial edge devices is now the primary exposure. Manufacturers, utilities and other operators with IoT2050 units on reachable networks should confirm the firmware version, remove or restrict Node-RED, and hunt for the reported backdoors this week. Asset owners should also review how long advisories for operational technology take to reach deployed devices.

What Happened

VulnCheck has reported active exploitation of CVE-2026-58115, a CVSS 10.0 missing-authentication flaw in the Node-RED HTTP interface of SIMATIC IoT2050 Advanced devices running Industrial OS. An unauthenticated remote attacker can create malicious flows and run arbitrary code with maximum privileges. Siemens published an advisory in August 2026 and fixed the issue in version 4.3.4.1 or later; attackers are deploying Linux bot payloads and command-execution backdoors.
