Definition
A CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) identifier is a unique public reference, such as CVE-2026-12345, assigned to a specific disclosed security flaw so that vendors, defenders and tools can refer to the same issue.
Why It Matters
CVE identifiers are how patch status, threat intelligence and insurance questionnaires refer to specific weaknesses.
