Segregated accounts company
Definition
A segregated accounts company is a single legal entity whose assets and liabilities are divided into legally separate accounts, so that the obligations of one account cannot be met from another. Bermuda uses the structure widely for insurance, reinsurance and insurance-linked securities.
Why It Matters
Governance and reporting rules for these structures, set by the BMA, determine how efficiently new risk transfer and technology products can be launched from Bermuda.
