Exploit-capable models are now arriving on a two-week cadence at unchanged pricing, so security teams should treat strong automated exploitation as a baseline assumption in threat models. CISOs, vulnerability management teams and vendors with slow patch cycles are most exposed, since the window between disclosure and weaponisation is the variable these capabilities compress. Watch for independent replication of the ExploitGym result, which is self-reported, and for how providers gate access to offensive-relevant capability.

What Happened

Google DeepMind announced Gemini 4 Carbon on 28 October, describing it as its strongest model, with state-of-the-art cybersecurity and long-horizon capabilities. Google says it ranks first on v5.0 of the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index at 59 and sets a new state of the art on the ExploitGym benchmark (54.8%, evaluated without guardrails). Google says it will launch at the same introductory price as Gemini 4 Argon, $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, and that Argon launched two weeks earlier.

Why It Matters

Exploit-capable models are now arriving on a two-week cadence at unchanged pricing, so security teams should treat strong automated exploitation as a baseline assumption in threat models. CISOs, vulnerability management teams and vendors with slow patch cycles are most exposed, since the window between disclosure and weaponisation is the variable these capabilities compress. Watch for independent replication of the ExploitGym result, which is self-reported, and for how providers gate access to offensive-relevant capability.
