OpenAI brings GPT-6 Sol and Luna to all ChatGPT plans, rated High capability in cyber and bio
A model that its own developer rates High for cyber and bio risk is now on the free tier, so any employee can reach it outside sanctioned enterprise channels. Acceptable-use policies, data loss controls and shadow AI monitoring should be reviewed on the assumption that capability is no longer gated by price. Security teams should also expect attackers to have the same capability uplift.
What Happened
OpenAI is launching GPT-6 to all ChatGPT users globally, on free and paid plans, replacing GPT-5.6 Sol and GPT-5.6 Luna. Under its Preparedness Framework, OpenAI is treating GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna as High capability in both the Cybersecurity and the Biological and Chemical domains. GPT-6 Sol is rolling out to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers and GPT-6 Luna to Free and Go users, alongside Intelligent UI, which combines text, visuals and interactive elements.
Why It Matters

Acceptable-use policies, data loss controls and shadow AI monitoring should be reviewed on the assumption that capability is no longer gated by price. Security teams should also expect attackers to have the same capability uplift.
