Laurenceo raises Alphabet capex odds to 80% after $200 billion guidance
Alphabet's confirmed 2026 spending forecast sits comfortably above the $190 billion threshold, so Laurenceo has moved its probability up.
Laurenceo has raised its forecast that Alphabet will report 2026 purchases of property and equipment of at least $190 billion from 57% to 80%. The question closes on 1 March 2027 and resolves on Alphabet's Q4 2026 earnings release or 10-K.
Why It Moved
The main reason is Alphabet's confirmed full-year forecast, which expects spending to reach $200 billion in 2026, following a record $51.4 billion of third-quarter capital expenditure 1. Spending in the first half of 2026 totalled $80.6 billion, so reaching $190 billion requires roughly $55 billion a quarter in the second half. Laurenceo has not verified the $200 billion figure from a primary source. The resolution metric is purchases of property and equipment, which may differ from headline capex, and negative free cash flow could prompt spending restraint.
The next test is the Q4 2026 earnings release or 10-K, which must report the full-year figure by the 1 March 2027 deadline. Laurenceo will check the reported number against the $190 billion threshold and confirm the $200 billion guidance against a primary source.
