OpenAI and ServiceNow expand partnership to put governed enterprise workflows inside ChatGPT and Codex
Placing agent actions in a chat interface while inheriting the workflow platform's permission model is an early template for governing agentic automation. The practical test for executives is whether existing role-based controls and audit trails hold when requests originate from a conversational front end. Organisations piloting similar integrations should verify that permissions are enforced at the workflow layer, not only at the interface.
What Happened
OpenAI announced an expanded partnership with ServiceNow that brings OpenAI models and agents into ServiceNow products and connects ServiceNow workflows with ChatGPT and Codex. Customers connect ChatGPT to their own ServiceNow instance and choose which capabilities to enable, and ServiceNow's Action Fabric applies existing business rules and permissions. The expansion builds on the partnership announced in January.
