CISA adds actively exploited Citrix NetScaler flaw CVE-2026-88779 to KEV with a three-day deadline
The federal remediation deadline falls today, and the forensic triage requirement shows CISA treats patching alone as insufficient. Any organisation running NetScaler at the network edge should patch now and also look for signs of prior compromise. Repeated exploitation of the same product line is a reason to review dependence on a single remote-access appliance.
What Happened
On 4 October 2026 CISA added CVE-2026-88779, a memory buffer vulnerability in Citrix NetScaler ADC and NetScaler Gateway, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, citing evidence of active exploitation. The catalog says the flaw could allow denial of service, sets a remediation due date of 7 October 2026 and requires forensic triage under Binding Operational Directive 26-04. The addition follows a CISA alert on exploited zero-days in the same products, last updated on 2 October with a SIGMA detection rule.
Why It Matters
The federal remediation deadline falls today, and the forensic triage requirement shows CISA treats patching alone as insufficient. Any organisation running NetScaler at the network edge should patch now and also look for signs of prior compromise. Repeated exploitation of the same product line is a reason to review dependence on a single remote-access appliance.
